Whether strength training is beneficial for weight loss

But are these statements true? Many physically active people believe that strength training is needed to build muscle mass, while reducing body fat only aerobic activity.

Table of Contents

1. The role of strength training in weight loss

Muscles that aren't properly engaged in work are losing weight, which is why regular strength training is so important. A very big problem for energy-deficient people, especially those who are more advanced, is the loss of muscle.

2. Is it even strength training or cardio training that's more beneficial to weight loss?

However, a comparison of strength trainers with aerobic exercise practitioners showed that although the first group was higher in body weight, they had lower levels of body fat than the second group, demonstrated by smaller waist circles (Mekary R.A. I. 2015). Of course, no! The best way to reduce body fat is to combine strength training with calorie deficit and aerobic activity.

3. Is it any kind of aerobic activity to choose to reduce fat?

However, it is important not to do it before strength training because it can negatively affect the results achieved. When achieving the goal of reducing body fat, we should focus primarily on the aerobic activity that we enjoy. Aerobic activity should therefore be taken into account after strength training or on a day off from exercise, but it should be remembered to maintain an adequate amount of time for recovery. Running, cycling, rolling, swimming in the pool or zooming any of these activities will contribute to the deepening of the deficit.

4. The more repetitions on the reduction, the better the effects -- fact or myth?

However, it is worth noting that higher repetition ranges involve a lower load, which in practice means that there will also be a decrease in strength. So there is no need to do many repetitions in the fat reduction process thanks to the proper progression of the load and calorie deficit along with diet and aerobic activity. Of course, during such training if the intensity and volume are at a sufficiently high fat loss level fat loss will occur.

5. Is it even possible to lose weight without a gym?

Recently, home workouts have gained popularity are an excellent alternative to traditional gym exercises. People who for any reason do not want or are unable to exercise in the gym may also want the desired effects. They can be done at any time of the day, and they need a little space. However, to get the best results, it's worth taking a dip in the rubber duct, or using a weight-reducing tool, such as a water-tight kettleband.
