What's in it for walnut oil?

Italian nut seeds are an important part of the diet, mainly due to their high vitamin content, energy density, as well as being a rich source of essential unsaturated fatty acids (NFCs). The consumption of nuts is recommended for the prevention of diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, or osteoporosis.

1. Characteristics and composition of nut oil

It has a light yellow or greenish colour. It is characterized by a delicate nutty and sweet flavor with a caramel nut and a slight nutty flavor. It should be noted that it is one of the richest sources of essential unsaturated fatty acids, including omega-3 (linolenic acid), omega-6 (linoleic acid) and omega-9 (oily acids). In addition, according to the study, nut oil is the lowest in the group of essential oils n.e.c., and contains a large amount of vitamin B.

2. The health properties of the oil

According to the latest research published in The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry eating walnuts can affect the composition of the microbiome, which in turn can reduce the risk of many civilization diseases. In a study by Zienezhada M. J. and colleagues among diabetics, it is valued not only for its uncommon taste but also for its health benefits.

3. Use of oil in the kitchen

Because of its mild flavor, Italian nut oil is recommended mainly as an ingredient in salads, raw materials, dressing or sauces. It also works well as an additive to: pancakes, cakes, raspberries, desserts served cold. It should be noted that it should not be used for frying because it is susceptible to oxidation. This oil should only be used in the cold as it loses its precious health properties after heating and its taste becomes bitter.

4. Storage of oil

If you buy cold pressed oils, you should be careful to keep them in a tight bottle of dark glass. It is best to store the oil in a cool and dark place. It should be stored properly, it should stay fresh for 3 months, remember that the shelf life of the nut oil is very short.
