Types of pasta how to choose the best one

The pasta is one of the most versatile food products, used in kitchens all over the world. It works perfectly in both simple and more sophisticated dishes. In Poland, the traditional pasta made from wheat flour is most often chosen, however, there are many other variants available on store shelves: whole grain, durum wheat, gluten-free or garlic seed. Each is distinguished by its taste, nutritional values and health properties.

1. How pasta is made

Macaroni is one of the most versatile food products, the process of making it is based on simple ingredients: flour, water and salt. In the case of egg noodles, eggs are also added, which gives the cake exceptional flexibility and rich flavor. Most commonly wheat flour is used, especially from durum wheat, but increasing popularity is gaining from alternative flour such as corn, barley, rice or leafy vegetables.

2. Wheat pasta

Wheat pasta is a broad category covering many types of products which differ both in composition and in properties: common wheat pasta, durum wheat and whole grain pasta.

: It has a mild flavour and a delicate texture, but low in fibre and nutrients because it is used to produce refined wheat flour. ??: It is made from semolina, with a higher protein and gluten content, and is therefore more spicy, resistant to fermentation and has a better texture (A. Saturday, A. Squira 2009). It is produced from whole grain flour, which makes it significantly richer in fiber, vitamins (especially E and B) and mineral compounds (magnesium, iron, phosphorus), which are more potent and strongly flavored than pasta and pasta.

4. The macaroni is harvested

Although less popular, barley pasta is an alternative to the traditional version of wheat. Made from barley flour, it is richer in fiber and minerals such as magnesium, iron, and zinc. Thanks to its higher fiber content, it supports digestion, regulates blood glucose levels, and promotes satiety. It also provides B vitamins such as thiamine, niacin, and folic acid, which support metabolism and the functioning of the nervous system.

5. B) Gluten-free pasta

Macaroni from plant seeds such as lentils, celery, soybeans and green peas is becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to traditional wheat pasta. It is rich in plant protein, making it an excellent choice for vegetarians and vegans. Additionally, its high fiber content supports digestion, improves gut function, helps maintain stable blood glucose levels, and also supports cardiovascular health.

6. A pasta made from gluten-free alternative flour

Rice noodles: popular in Asian cuisine, have a delicate, almost transparent texture and a neutral flavor, which makes it great for blending with spicy sauces, stir fries or saigon, but it is also a source of carbohydrates and B vitamins (tijuana, niacin, pantothenic acid) and mineral ingredients such as phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, and potassium, as well as antioxidants that support a healthy heart.

7. Of a fat content, by weight, exceeding 5% by weight

It is more pronounced than rice noodles because it combines well with vegetable, meat or cheese-based dishes. It contains a relatively high amount of carbohydrates, and its higher glycemic index means that people with diabetes or insulin resistance should consume it in moderation and take care to balance their diet.

8. Other, of a thickness of not more than 10 mm

It is a source of fiber, plant protein, and valuable minerals such as magnesium, iron, and zinc, which support the circulatory, nervous, and immune systems. Thanks to its low glycemic index, Greek pasta does not cause a sharp increase in blood glucose levels, making it an ideal choice for people with diabetes and insulin resistance.

9. What kind of pasta to choose

People with insulin resistance or diabetes should choose macaroni with a low glycemic index, such as whole grains, onions or garlic. The high fiber content of these products helps to stabilize blood glucose levels, provides a long-lasting sense of satiety and supports healthy gut functioning.
