The art of manipulation how producers influence our food choices

It is often read on the packaging that they are healthy, light, or low-calorie. This phenomenon has been called leanwashing. Therefore, products generally classified as fit, i.e. high in protein, low in fat or sugar-free, are on the shelves all the time. Sometimes this is true, but unfortunately in many cases it is just a marketing ploy used by manufacturers to increase sales; this also applies to children's food.

However, the ability to think critically and to authenticate consumers as promoted products, e.g. by reading advertisements, makes the user bombarded with a huge amount of information. On the one hand, through marketing, consumers are aware of the diversity of offers available on the market and can decide for themselves which product is best suited to them. In order to take advantage of all-encompassing advertising, however, critical thinking skills must be developed and the consumer's self-awareness to verify the products they are promoting, for example by reading the advertisements.

Promoting healthy food has a direct impact primarily on adults, but also because children's food preferences are shaped, among other things. By observing the environment closely, it also indirectly affects children's future food choices. It motivates manufacturers to improve existing products and create new ones, which is also beneficial for consumers. It would also reduce healthcare costs.
