Summary of properties and applications

It has a characteristic hairy fruit in the shape of small balls with a brownish-red color, which is used in the production of a popular spice in the Middle East countries.

Table of Contents

1. The chemical composition

Its health effects are due to the presence of a number of bioactive compounds, including quercetin, isocvercetin, protoacetic acid, gallic acid, methyl galusan, kemferol, rosemary acid, and tannin. Elagbar et al. 2020). It has been used to treat a variety of ailments, including diarrhea, ulcers, coughs, painful wounds, and vision problems. In a phytochemical study, polyphenols, flavourings, phytophenolics, mushrooms, and essential oils have been detected.

2. Health properties

These properties are mainly due to the presence of polyphenols, flavonoids, anthocyanins, phenolic acids (especially gallic acid) and organic acid (apple and lemon) in the garberic aggregate. High protective DNA activity has also been observed to prevent mutations in the genetic material (F.S. Due to the bioactive ingredient content of Rhus coriaria, it is characterized by high antioxidant activity. Thanks to its antioxidant properties, these substances aid in the removal of toxins, prevent the development of many sexually transmitted diseases, and also delay the aging processes of organisms.

3. It has anti-cancer properties

Sumaka's antioxidant activity has been linked to anti-cancer activity in which polyphenols and flavonoids inhibit the development of cancer cells and contribute to their destruction by apoptosis (cell death). Cytotoxic effects have been observed in breast cancer cells (H. Abdallah et al., 2019), the large intestine (K. Muazzam et al. 2018). This disorder of the cells, organs and systems may also lead to changes in blood cancer. Studies have shown that extract from Rhusaria prevents their growth and excess growth in prostate cancer cells, angiogenesis of the prostate gland and other forms of inflammatory bowel disease (Rhus 2017) as well as stress-inducing and inhibitory reactions in the ovarian and ovarian tissues (S.

4. It has antimicrobial properties

It has been found that the active ingredients in the oil inhibit the growth of bacteria and also contribute to their destruction. Zhaleh et al. 2018). Observations have been made on three resistant strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Adwan, B. Advan 2010). Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes, and Escherichia coli) Colic sumac may be used as a natural preservative (A. Sumac sumacum has antimicrobial properties against both living and non-living bacteria.

5. It has anti-inflammatory properties

The results showed that the use of Rhus coriaria extract contributed to a significant decrease in IL-6 (Interleukin 6) and TNF-alpha (cancer mortality factor) levels, i.e. the effects of sumac extract on the reduction of pathological mechanisms associated with the development of deadly inflammation of the intestines. However, another study showed the beneficial effect of cumin sumac in reducing inflammatory processes in the arthritis of the joints.

6. It has anti-diabetic properties

In one of them, Rhus coriaria fruit extract was shown to reduce blood glucose levels by about 31% in a group of diabetic rats (A. Sumaka fruits contain a number of bioactive compounds which, by blocking the absorption of glucose in the intestine, lower its levels in the blood. Based on the results of the studies, it was found that regular intake of Rhus koriaria fruit can be helpful in the treatment and prevention of hyperglycaemia, diabetes mellitus and its complications (S. Please note that experiments have been conducted only on animals, and further studies are needed to confirm this model).

7. Cholesterol-lowering properties

A positive effect of the extract on lowering serum lipids and cholesterol was observed (M. Nobakht, A. Soltani et al., 2017). Nagib 2017). In one study, short-term supplementation of sumaka fruit extract at 1000 mg per day was shown to effectively improve blood pressure, endothelial function and blood lipid levels. Therefore, taking sumaka extract may support pharmacotherapy by increasing its effectiveness. Asgaras et al. 2018).
