When is the right time to eat fruits and vegetables? When you go through food magazines and websites, you can find a variety of information about fruit consumption. According to some nutritionists, it is better to eat fruit before meals than after meals. Some people think that it is best to eat after not only the first part of the day, others prefer to eat it after noon.

Table of Contents

1. The nutritional value of the fruit

These are sugars that occur naturally in fruit and should not be feared as long as, of course, an adequate amount of fruit is consumed during the day and does not exceed the daily energy requirement. Most of the fruits available are products with an average calorie content. The remaining fruits provide no more than 100 kcal/100 g, usually around 5060 k cal/100 g. The suggested one serving is about 80100 g of fruit. However, food of plant origin, including fruit, mainly contains two essential carbohydrates, minerals, edible fibers, including strawberries, and one half a grain of sugar, which is beneficial for the body.

2. Fruit and time of day

As a result, sugars can ferment in the intestines and lead to unpleasant diseases such as bloating and certain diseases of the digestive tract, such as swelling and gas. Of course, the use of protein and fat will reduce the glycemic load of the meal and slow down the rate at which sugar is absorbed. If we are healthy and physically active, we can afford to eat portions of fruit at any time of the day. However, for people with diabetes and certain gastrointestinal disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease, protein and reflux disease, the consumption of fruits in the evening is contraindicated.

3. Eating fruit and losing weight

People on a low-energy diet should also take care to ensure that their diet consists of fruit as well. However, it is important to remember not to consume them in excess, as although they are rich in vitamins, they still contain a high amount of simple sugars. Attention should be paid to fruits with a low glycemic index (e.g. seasoned berries, apples) as they do not cause a sharp increase in insulin concentration and then a sharply decrease in its concentration.
