The treatment consists of many parts, including a well-planned pharmacotherapy, physiotherapy and surgical interventions. Mucoviscidosis is one of the most common genetic diseases. It requires intensive therapy, which aims to reduce the progression of the disease, alleviate its symptoms and prolong the patient's life. Due to changes in metabolism, dietary procedures also play a huge role in the treatment of mucosis.

Table of Contents

1. Mycobacteriosis is defined as:

The gene responsible for its occurrence is found on chromosome seven and is inherited in a recessive manner, which means that in order for the offspring to become sick, both mother and father must be carriers, i.e. possess a damaged copy of the gene. Mucoviscidosis is a genetic disease in which the extracellular function of the glands is impaired, resulting in the production of dense, sticky mucus. The occurrence of the disease is not related to sex. It most commonly affects the digestive and respiratory systems.

2. Mycobacteriosis is the diagnosis, the symptoms

It is worth adding that the screening programme also allows for the detection of other diseases with a genetic basis, including phenylketonuria, clone syrup disease, core muscle wasting or congenital thyroid insufficiency. Genetic tests are also frequently carried out for the presence of a disease-causing mutation. Other symptoms include weight loss, skin swelling, change in the shape of the fingers (spina bifida), as well as a characteristic leprosy, which is confirmed. Since 2009, newborns have been screened for the thickness of the pancreas in Poland, which means that every newborn is usually diagnosed with a mucous infection only after breathing.

3. Mycobacteriosis - the course, the consequences

In the lungs, mucus adheres to the airways, preventing proper cleansing and increasing susceptibility to infections in men and women. Extended pancreatic ducts and chronic inflammation can lead to damage to the pancreas and, as a result, loss of the ability to produce insulin and develop diabetes (in about 20% of patients). Mucosa also causes infertility in men, and problems with pregnancy in women are often observed. It is responsible for the proper transport of chlorine and sodium ions between cells; its excess solvents can cause fluid transport disorders, lead to malfunctions in the production of fat, which is excreted in the liver, and can also lead to metabolic defects, which are caused by a lack of metabolic enzymes in the stomach.

4. Mycobacteriosis is a treatment

In addition, to support this process, antibiotics are used for a prolonged period of time. Patients who are struggling with complications of diabetes mellitus, liver disease and pancreatic cancer can improve airflow through the lungs, thus allowing for more efficient breathing. Because of the increased susceptibility to bacterial infections in some patients, it is necessary to use antibiotics for a long time. However, patients who are suffering from complications related to liver disease and pancreas may also need to take other medicines to treat these diseases.

5. Mycobacteriosis is a diet

In view of the general screening tests to diagnose the same anthropometric parameters (weight, growth, body weight), the first recommendation is that supplements should be given to infants who, like healthy children, should be breastfed (if possible). It is also recommended that the introduction of solid foods into the diet should not be delayed. Therefore, it is recommended to increase the calorie intake of the menu by 20 50% compared to a healthy person' s consumption of the same anatomical criteria (height, weight, body mass). However, the actual value of these supplements depends on the patient' s age, body fat intake or associated problems.

6. What, then, should the diet of people with cystic fibrosis look like?

Soups and sauces should be condensed with cream or added to oil. Meals should be prepared during preparation or on a plate. The diet should be as varied and attractive to the patient as possible. They come in the form of cocktails that can be eaten alone as a snack or as a meal, e.g. as a vegetable, cream or pancakes. They should be based primarily on high energy-dense cocoa products such as fat, full fat cream, vegetable oils, butter, nuts and nuts, jelly, fruit, rice and vegetables.
