Olive oil is famous for itself

Thanks to the Mediterranean diet, which is considered the healthiest in the world, olive oil has become a permanent staple in Polish homes. Despite the high fat intake by the inhabitants of the Mediterranean countries, the percentage of people with cardiovascular diseases is low there.

Table of Contents

1. The Best Olive Oil

The selection on the market is huge, not all oils are the same. This is the way to get them for their quality and health properties. Cheap oil is most often obtained by the chemical extraction and refining of the extracts of olives left after the first pressing. In other words, is a waste product after the most valuable. You should carefully read the labels and choose extra virgin oil, i.e. from the first pressure. You can also look for unfiltered oil, which contains 30% more antioxidants.

2. Precious oil

Approximately 5583% of olive oil is oleic acid, which as a substitute for saturated fats can act as a protective agent in the prevention of atherosclerosis and heart disease. Many studies have been conducted on olive oil intake and its effects on atherosis.

3. Olive oil is not just for the heart

The presence of vitamin E and polyphenols (only found in extra virgin oil) in olive oil as antioxidants inhibits the production of free radicals which, by damaging the genetic material of the cells, can affect the development of cancers. Many epidemiological studies confirm a lower incidence of cancer of various organs, mainly the large intestine, in people who have followed a Mediterranean diet based on olive oil. The presence in olive olive oil, on the other hand, has antibacterial properties, helps in liver detoxification functions, and promotes the regeneration of the liver, thus reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes.

4. The balance of omega acids

Olive oil is a rich source of omega-9s (oily acid). It plays a very important role in the prevention of cardiovascular disease. For proper functioning of the body, omega-3s and omega-6s are also very important, which must be supplied with food. They play an important role, among other things, in the function of the heart and nervous system. Given the low content of omega-3 in olive oil, it is important to include in your daily diet fatty acids that include, for example, fish fats, nuts or other fatty oils (e.g. oil and vegetable oils).
