Microlysed what they are and whether they're worth eating

Microgreens are a relatively new product on the Polish food market.

Table of Contents

1. What are microliths?

We call the sprouted seed a sprout, and the microlily can be a great dietary variety to add to salads and sandwiches or be used as a food decoration as well. The sprouts can be grown in a few days, while the microstates up to 2 weeks. Today, it is readily available in Polish food discount stores.

2. The nutritional value of the micro-leaf

However, this indicates the potential for the use of micronutrients in children's diets. The proportionally standard portion of mature, larger in volume and weight (100 g) vegetables can provide similar amounts of these compounds. Microlytes are characterized by lower levels of health-damaging nitrates compared to mature leafy vegetables. However, it suggests the potential use of microorganisms in the diet of children.

3. Bioactive compounds contained in micro-leafs

These compounds are anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and protect against the harmful effects of free oxygen. A particular group of biologically active compounds found in micro-leafs are glucosinols plant nitrogen metabolites, which have a chemopreventive function in the human body (prevent certain cancers, including breast and prostate cancer). They also contain many substances in the polyphenol group, including flavouring antibodies, stilbenes or phytoestrogens.

4. Effects of microlilyl consumption on health

Because of their high concentration of vitamins, minerals and bioactive compounds, they can be classified as superfoods. Inclusion in the diet can lead to improved nutrition, preventing nutrient and vitamin deficiencies, and have a beneficial effect on carbohydrate and lipid management parameters (blood glucose and cholesterol). Microlys, which are included in dark green leafy vegetables, are among the most nutritionally valuable. In addition, they are considered to be functional foods, i.e. not only functioning as nutrients but also having other health effects.

5. Processing and storage of micro-leafs

After planting, they should be watered regularly. They grow longer than sprouts, which makes them more stable and greener. The disadvantage of microleafs is that they have a short shelf life after harvesting to a few days in cold conditions. They can be grown at home all year round in parquet pots, which allows you to enjoy them even in winter. Microleaf seeds can be purchased in garden stores or online. They are best eaten after a week or two after hatching. They're harvested right above the roots and eaten like fresh salads.

6. It's a set of rules using microletters

They taste and look best in raw form, but they can also be added to hot dishes, such as Asian cuisine. They are great at breaking the flavor of fish, eggs and other vegetables. Microlys, like ripe vegetables, can be used as a sandwich additive, a base for green salads, a decoration for main dishes or additives.
