Luteolin has improved memory and concentration!

The nervous system is the central unit of our body. It's the main coordinator of the work of each system, which not only divides the tasks, but also controls their progress and the correctness of their execution. Pathologies within this structure lead to a deterioration in the functioning of the whole system.

Table of Contents

1. What is luteolin?

Luteolin is a chemical belonging to a large group of compounds known as flavonoids. These organic chemicals are mainly found in plant organisms and form a subgroup of substances called polyphenols. I have already mentioned the latter in the context of the body's antioxidation and fight against free radicals. The products containing a significant amount of luteolin are broccoli, carrots, peppermint, doctor's mint, oregano, olfactory mint, green pepper, rosemary, salts, selenium, and green peppers.

2. Applications

Based on the above information, it can be assumed that luteolin is used primarily in diseases of the nervous system. Very often in the literature, diseases such as autism, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, dementia of old age, memory and concentration problems, as well as mental disorders are mentioned.

3. Opinion of the European Parliament and of the Council

When looking at the scientific literature, you can find references to luteolin. In the work of Ren et al. of 2013, the authors note that luteoline may slow down the effect planned by the body of accelerated death of nerve cells in the hippocampus. A similar study also conducted on mice showed that supplementation with luteol over a period of four weeks improved learning and memory processes in these animals. In older individuals, it was observed to restore (i.e. memory) to a state similar to this in younger creatures. However, really important are the results of this work.
