Supporters of vegetarian and vegan diets often look for products that will replace the taste of meat in their food lists. One such substitute may be jacuzzi, an exotic fruit that is a common and inexpensive food in India. Interest in this alternative has increased significantly in recent years in Poland.

1. What's a jackfruit?

Jackfruit, also known as jacafrut, is the fruit of the varietal breadcrumb (Latin: Artocarpus heterophyllus). This evergreen plant, otherwise known as the buckwheat tree, belongs to the blueberry family. It is native to India, but is also grown in other areas with a tropical climate, such as Brazil, Thailand and Indonesia. Breadcrumb reaches a height of 1030 m, but its leaves are considered the largest in the world. Specifically, because they grow directly from the stem.

2. Taste and consistency

As with other fruits, the intensity of the flavor of the jacuzzi depends on the degree of maturity. The yellow fruits have a characteristic fruity aroma and a sweet exotic taste. It is compared to peaches or mangoes. It can also be found to resemble the combination of banana and pineapple.

3. The nutritional values

It is a valuable source of vitamins and minerals. First of all, it contains more potassium than bananas, which are considered to be foods rich in this element. It contains vitamins A, C, B1, B2, B3, B6, folic acid, magnesium, calcium, iron and zinc. In addition, it also contains lignans, flavonoids and carotenoids, which have beneficial effects on health.

4. It's the use of the jackfruit

It is also used for jams, jellies, cocktails and baking cakes. It is very well combined with coconut flavor. In its dried form, it is suitable for homemade mussels, vegetables or granules. However, unripe fruits are used in culinary dishes. It should be emphasized that they only require heat treatment.

5. Health properties

It is worth noting that in addition to being tasty, baking fruit carotenoids and flavonoids also have beneficial effects on health. These compounds delay or reduce oxidation processes, which also contribute to the reduction of tissue damage and anti-inflammatory processes. Jacafruit has a high antioxidant activity. This is due to antioxidant ingredients such as ascoric acid (vitamin C), carotene and flawonoids. The compounds also delay or decrease the oxidation process which also contributes to tissue injury and anti inflammatory blood processes.

9. Summary

Because of the taste and consistency of the fruit, the baker perfectly mimics the meat. It is recommended for vegetarians, but also for those looking for something new. It should be emphasized that the jacuzzi is a valuable product because it contains vitamins and minerals necessary for the proper functioning of the body. In addition, the bioactive compounds present in it have a healthful effect.
