It's worth having flaxseed oil in your fridge, but is it worth overpaying?

Linen production in Poland is a centuries-old tradition. We were once a leader in this field. Unfortunately, in the 1960s this industry collapsed and we have not returned to our heyday. However, since 2004 we have seen an increase in the production of linen and linen oil.

Table of Contents

1. Oil of flax methods of extraction

Linen is used in the textile, pharmaceutical, paper and food industries. We will focus on the latter and summarize the health benefits of linen oil. Linen oil pressed in cold can be counted as a functional food. Plant oil is a fat extracted from seeds, fruits or vegetables. Today, we have a wide range of products to choose from: grape seed oil, maple oil, cherry oil, rapeseed oil, olive oil, etc.

2. It's cleaning up

removal of mucus seeds, protein compounds, certain metals using phosphoric or citric acids; elimination of free fatty acids and some metals; ?? i.e. removal, e.g. of certain colours, such as chlorophyll, which intensifies the adverse oxidation process. the removal at a temperature of about 200 °C of more volatile compounds than the oil itself thus removing the foreign odors. Substances used in these processes are then removed from the oil in general.

3. The price of flaxseed oil

Unfortunately, cold-pressed flaxseed oil will be slightly more expensive than refined oils. The manufacturing process itself is much less efficient, so it's not surprising. minus cold pressing has a shorter shelf life. In addition to triglycerides, which are the basis of the oil, there are also additional compounds in non-high-temperature oil. They are more susceptible to oxidation and cause faster digestion of fat. After opening the oil is consumed for up to 4 weeks.

4. Oil of flax and composition

Flaxseed oil is up to 95% made up of triglycerol (TAG). TAG is a compound consisting of a glycerol molecule combined with three fatty acids. This results in a small amount of mono- and diacyloglycerols. The content of NNKT, i.e. essential unsaturated fatty acid, including alpha-linolenic and linoleic acids, is particularly important.

5. Linseed oil properties

Flaxseed oil contains both omega-3 fatty acids (e.g. alpha-linolenic) and omega-6 (eg. linolenic and gamma-linolene). However, the proper proportions between the acids in each family are crucial. The ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 should not be higher than 5:1. Flax seed oil is characterized by their corresponding concentration. As a result of the reverse relationship, inflammatory processes may intensify in this state. However, flaxseeds in the human body are converted into euphoric acid (EPA only) and dihydrohexaenoic acid.

6. Flaxseed oil and thinning

Whatever's not good about flaxseed oil, it's still fat, which is the most calorific of all nutrients. It delivers 9 calories per gram. Fat is the first thing we want to limit on a reduction diet. Not without a reason. The key, however, is to maintain a proper calorie balance. If the diet is properly balanced, the addition of vegetable oils is absolutely essential. Flaxseeds oil can only be consumed in the cold. Giving it to a high temperature leads to harmful acrylic. So let's eat it with vegetables as a supplement to salads and soups.
