Is irrigation in the summer isotonic or water?

An organism that is exposed to high temperatures triggers defense mechanisms, etc. We get more sweat... and then we lose water and minerals... to cover these losses and at the same time avoid the negative effects of dehydration, it's important to ensure proper fluid supply.

Table of Contents

1. Water content in the body

The human body is composed largely of water. Its percentage content varies with age and is dependent on many factors. The body of a newborn is made up of up to 75% water, the largest amount of water it loses in the first year of life. It is assumed that water makes up an average of 5070% of an adult's body weight, and the amount decreases as he ages. In a man after 60 years of age it will be 54%, and in a woman 46%. Water content also depends on body composition, and more precisely body fat mass and fat tissue.

2. Demand for liquids

According to the recommendations of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), a woman's dietary fluid intake should be 2000 ml and a man's intake of 2500 ml. These values apply to adults and the elderly and take into account fluids supplied with food products, which are estimated to account for approximately 20% of the daily water intake (M.May and M. 2017).

3. Symptoms of dehydration

If the body begins to dehydrate, at first we experience strong thirst, dry mucous membranes, and dizziness -- these symptoms are often associated with heat and too long exposure to sunlight, which can cause them to be downplayed -- if water balance is not balanced, severe dehydration can occur -- diarrhea, vomiting, excessive sweating, increased or decreased diuresis, and as a result, even loss of consciousness.

4. How to take care of regular watering

To avoid this, remember that it is always one extra glass of water to avoid: A glass of liquid in the morning a good habit is to drink a cup of water, e.g. with the addition of lemon or honey, as soon as you wake up. Many people start the day this way because they need to take a glass of medication or supplements. Remember that it's always one more glass of fluid too!

5. What kind of drink to choose to hydrate the body well

So the first choice should be pure mineral water. It is the most universal and readily available beverage that quenches thirst well. Water is well tolerated, does not provide calories, and by the way complements the shortages of mineral ingredients, mainly magnesium and calcium. It has a neutral flavor that can be varied by adding fresh fruit or vegetables to it. The second proposal is isotonic beverages. They were created mainly for the sake of athletes, but they are also tested during drinking.

6. A prescription for a household isotonic

The basis of such a drink is water, fruit/vegetable juice, green tea infusion or herbal infusion. A carbohydrate additive may be honey, clone syrup, dactyl or agave. Salt can be supplied by the addition of salt.

7. Do you know that

Coconut water is a naturally occurring isotonic compound (J. Jessa, K. Hozyasz 2015). It is 95% water, 4% carbohydrates, and less than 1% protein and fat. It is also a low-calorie product in 100 g contains 19 kcal. Its health and isotopic properties result from an appropriate proportion of vitamins and minerals. It primarily provides potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, B vitamins, folic acid and vitamin C. It can be obtained directly from coconut or bought as a finished product in the store.
