How many calories does rice have?

Rice is one of the most popular food additives, and it's not just in Asian countries. There are many varieties available on the market, and each varies slightly in nutrient or fiber content.

Table of Contents

1. The nutritional value

The content of macronutrients, fiber, mineral ingredients and vitamins will depend on the type of rice selected. The lightest is white rice (fibre content is 2.4 g/100 g and fat content 0.7 g/100g), but contains the least potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, B vitamins and vitamin E. The exception is zinc, which is slightly more abundant in white rice than in red, brown or black.

2. What kind of rice to choose

The answer to this question is not simple. Not always will a product that is high in fiber, vitamins and minerals be safe for everyone. People who have been diagnosed with unhealthy bowel diseases and who are in the process of getting worse, as well as those with ulcers, should avoid rich foods. It can exacerbate unpleasant symptoms and deepen the inflammatory process.

3. Attention to pollution

Rice may contain compounds that are hazardous to human health. It is believed that it may be contaminated with cadmium or arsenic. In 2018, the results of studies were published that were intended to show the effect of vegetables consumed on reducing the solubility of unwanted elements in the body. It has been proven that products such as carrots, spinach and tomatoes contribute to lower cadmin absorption, and potatoes, potato, carrots and pomegranate have reduced the availability of arsenics. The above mentioned ingredients may increase the risk of cancer, so it is worth adding ready-made carrots or starting a diet to reduce the potential risk.

4. Gluten-free

Rice is a naturally gluten-free product, so people with celiac disease and a gluten free diet can safely consume it. It can be an excellent substitute for cassava or pasta containing unwanted protein.

5. Applications

Rice can be used in many ways. Cooked rice can be served with sauces, baked or fried fish or meat. In recent years, restaurants have been making sushi, which consists of arborio rice and vegetables, fish and crabs. In Asia, rice paper is also popular for making spring rolls (saigonek). Rice flour can serve as the basis for gluten-free cakes or pastries.
