How many calories does porridge have? Does it exhibit anti-cancer properties?

Por is a vegetable that, along with garlic, onion and spinach, belongs to the onion family. It is an ingredient in many dishes of Polish cuisine.

1. Low calorie vegetables

Por is a very low-calorie vegetable. 100 g of this vegetable provides only 29 kcal. In addition, it belongs to low-carbohydrate vegetables. A small amount of por weighs about 120 g, and its nutritional value is as follows: energy value: 34.8 kcal, protein: 2.6 g. fat: 0.4 g.

2. Vitamins contained in time

The por contains in its composition B vitamins B1 (0.1 mg/100 g), B2 (0.1mg/100 g) B3 (0.6 mg/100g), B6 (0.2 mg/100 gr), folic acid (56.0 μg/100 g); vitamin C (20, 2 mg/100 G), vitamin E (0.5 mg/100G) and pro-vitamin A (148μg/100 G).

3. Mineral components found in time

Por also supplies mineral components such as zinc (0.7 mg/100 g), iron (1.1 mg/100g), calcium (48 mg/100 G), potassium (248 mg/100G), magnesium (11 mg/100 Gr), phosphorus (52 mg/100 gr), iodine (2 μg/100g) selenium (1 μg 100g) and sodium (6 mg/100gr). This uncommon vegetable contains relatively high amounts of iron. It is a non-hepatogenic iron that is only 5% absorbed by the body, but iron bioavailability increases in the presence of vitamin C, which is also present in the liver.

4. It's anti-cancer

Research by Y. Zhou et al. has shown that high intake of onion vegetables, including season, contributes to a decrease in the risk of gastrointestinal cancers. Isothiocyanates contained in season can prevent the development of melanoma, lung cancers, colon, breast, ovaries, gallbladder. Vitamin C in the vegetable also plays an important role in the prevention of cancer.

5. The source of the sulfur

Sulfur is an element that is not present in food on its own, but is composed of the amino acids sulfur - methionine, cysteine and cysteines - and vitamins thiamine and biotin. Por is a source of these substances, so it exhibits positive properties. It protects liver cells, conditions the proper growth of the body and contributes to the production of substances such as choline and creatine. Choline supports the work of the brain, while creatine is a component of muscle tissue and plays a very important role in energy metabolism.
