How many calories does butter have?

Butter is one of the most popular fats used to lubricate baked goods. This product is made from cow's milk and is rich in vitamins A and E. It contains trace amounts of lactose, which can cause negative digestive symptoms in people with lactose intolerance.

1. The nutritional value

Butter consists mainly of fat (minimum 82%) and a small amount of protein and carbohydrates. Water accounts for 16% of the weight of the product. Butter is rich in vitamins A, D and E. In addition, it contains a lot of calcium and, in smaller quantities, potassium and phosphorus. Nutritional value per 100 g of product: Caloricity: 748 kcal, protein: 0.7 g. fat: 82.5 g.

2. Vitamins soluble in fats

Butter is a valuable source of vitamin A, which improves vision and skin condition. It also contributes to the production of reproductive cells and affects the development of the fetus. Due to the presence of antioxidants, it protects against reactive forms of oxygen. Vitamin E, which is an antioxidant, helps to reduce the risk of developing coronary artery disease or cancer. It has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the male and female reproductive organs.

3. Butter and cholesterol and civilized diseases

It's believed that saturated fats have a negative effect on the lipid profile. A 2018 study confirms this thesis. It has been shown that eating butter causes an increase in LDL cholesterol, or so-called bad cholesterol. But that doesn't mean you should drastically limit butter in your diet.

4. Attention to lactose

Since butter is made from milk and contains lactose, it is important to remember that these are small amounts (0.6 g/100 g of product) and that butter rarely causes symptoms in lactose intolerant people.

5. Applications

To get a more interesting taste, some people season butter with herbs or fresh garlic. Butter is also used in bakeries to make creams or sauces. It is the basic ingredient of fragrant cake or French cake.
