1. What is green barley?

Green barley is a popular cereal variety belonging to the family of herbaceous plants. There are about 25 different varieties of barley in the world. The green color of the barley means that the plant is still young. Preparations containing green barley are mainly in powder form. The powder should be mixed with water or juice (fruit/vegetable) and taken in liquid form.

2. Green barley is working

Green barley is a treasure trove of unhealthy substances. It contains B vitamins and antioxidant compounds responsible for cleaning the body of harmful free radicals. First of all, there is a high amount of ascorbic acid, or vitamin C. The amount of this compound in the young variety of barley, is much higher than in citrus juice. The antioxidant properties of plants are also determined by the presence of vitamin E and beta-carotene. The content of this second compound is much greater than in the test chemical.

Green barley and supplements based on this product are used in a number of medical units.The diseases in which green barley is most commonly used are: cancers, digestive problems, excessive acidification of the organism, inflammatory and viral diseases, dermal problems such as acne or ulcers, joint and stomach pain.

Green barley is very often advertised as an effective weight loss remedy. What does it mean? First of all, the antioxidants mentioned above, which prepare the body to fight excess body weight. In addition, it is worth remembering that chlorophyll normalises the pH. Soluble fiber has a very beneficial effect on the functioning of the digestive system, because under the influence of water it is converted into a glue gel, because the effect of the water is transformed into an adhesive gel that helps bind fats and accelerates their metabolism in the body.

5. The price

Green barley-based dietary supplements vary in price, depending not only on the manufacturer's brand or grammar, but also on the form of the preparation. In the case of barley powder, which is used to make juices, packaging weighing 300 g can cost from PLN 31 to PLN 200. Slightly cheaper products are capsules or tablets.

6. Opinion of the European Parliament and of the Council

Studies on the effects of young barley on blood sugar levels were carried out in 40 patients with type 2 diabetes. Patients were divided into 2 equal groups. The first group followed a diet in combination with oral anti-diabetic medicines, while the second group took insulin. Both groups used younger barley for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 6 months.
