Get to know the sorgo!

Well, a healthy diet doesn't have to be boring! If you're looking for a way out of everyday tastes, you might think of sorghum, an African grain that has a lot of health benefits.

Table of Contents

1. What are sorghum seeds?

Sorghum is one of the oldest grains, its origins date back to about 10,000 years B.C. It originated in Africa, South America, and Central America. However, the United States is now the largest producer and exporter of sorghum. Sorghums are among the most productive and at the same time economical cereals. Low prices, easy growing conditions, and high plant resistance (e.g., to mushrooms, moulds, or most drought-prone crops) mean that in the future sorghums may also be a major nutrient additive.

2. The nutritional value

100 g of sorghum provides the body with 329 kcal, which corresponds to the typical energy value of most crustaceans. The main macronutrients are (batteries) which are used as a source of energy for both physical and mental exertion. Sorghum, despite its low fat content and low nutrient content, is high in nutrients. A dose of 6.7 g helps to improve the function of the digestive tract and cleanse most of the toxic compounds from the body.

3. The health effects

High antioxidant content restricts the action of harmful free radicals. Sorghum effectively stops the process of protein glycation. This mechanism involves glucose molecules being attached to proteins, which in turn increases the risk of developing diabetes and accelerates the aging process of the body. Sorrow is a low-fat grain, and the lipid compounds present in it are mainly omega-3 and omega-6 acids. Healthy fats can affect cholesterol levels, and sorghum lowers LDL levels without affecting so-called good HDL cholesterol.
