Fat Thursday and a healthy lifestyle how to combine it

Fat Thursday is traditionally a day full of sweetness doughnuts and sweets reign on tables in almost every Polish home. For many people who try to stay in shape and maintain a healthy diet, it's also a time of doubt. Will one doughnut ruin my efforts? This is a question many people ask themselves.

Table of Contents

1. How many kilocalories does a typical doughnut have?

A doughnut is a pastry made from wheat flour, yeast, sugar, eggs, milk and fat (usually butter or margarine). The whole is fried in deep oil, and then often topped with sugar powder or spiced with licorice. Such a combination of ingredients makes doughnuts not among the lightest flavours. However, their caloric value depends on many factors, including size, texture, field, and even method of preparation.

2. It's a doughnut with no flavor

: is the simplest version, usually sprinkled with sugar powder, which delivers about 250300 calories.

3. Donut with jam or marmalade

: usually coated with sweet licorice, sprinkled with orange peel and stuffed with fruit ingredients.

4. A doughnut with a lawyer

It's coated in sugar, often chocolate, and coated with an alcohol-and-egg cream, and has a calorie content of about 350 calories.

5. Donuts

Although theoretically the doughnut weighs less (by cutting a hole in the middle), it is usually served with a number of additives such as chocolates, nuts, or crunchy spices.

6. Donuts from the bakery

In recent years, more and more bakeries have specialized in the sale of a variety of doughnuts, often filled with a large amount of cream, e.g. chocolate, coconut, walnuts or similar to popular sweets.

7. The doughnuts are roasted

Unlike traditional fried doughnuts, they are cooked in the oven, which makes them absorb less fat and thus lower in calories. They typically provide about 150 to 250 calories per piece, depending on the size and type of cooking. As you can see, the lowest calories are baked or unbaked, so if this product is often on the menu, it's worth considering this. But if eating a doughnut is casual and it doesn't happen too often, you should choose the version that tastes the most to you. Once in a while, you can afford your favorite version and don't worry about the calorie.

8. Do you know if one fat Thursday doughnut ruins your diet?

One or two dumplings eaten on a fat Thursday will not significantly affect the long-term effects of a healthy lifestyle, especially if the daily diet is balanced and thoughtful. People who seek to maintain a negative calorie balance and lose weight should remember that weight gain requires a significant excess of calories. It is estimated that to gain 1 kg, you need to consume about 7700 kcal more than your body needs.

9. All or nothing, how to avoid extremes

An all-or-nothing approach on a fat Thursday often leads to uncontrollable tension and guilt, especially in the context of healthy eating habits. A complete abandonment of dumplings can be seen as a depression that in the long run causes frustration and increases the risk of compulsive eating in the future. On the other hand, letting go of the temptation uncontrollably and reaching for a large amount of sweetness under the guise of a healthy eating disorder, I can say more.

10. Fat Thursday with no doughnuts when it's time to say no

Although Fat Thursday is undeniably associated with doughnuts, eating them is not a requirement at all.. there are times when giving up this sweet tradition may be a better choice.. and for a variety of reasons, not just dietary.. here are a few examples.

11. You don't like doughnuts

If doughnuts aren't your favorite delicacy, you shouldn't force yourself to eat them just because they are.. you can celebrate the tradition in other ways, like choosing a dessert that's really enjoyable.

12. You have food intolerances and/or allergies

People who are intolerant of gluten, lactose or allergic to ingredients such as wheat flour, milk or eggs should exercise caution.

13. You're having health problems

If you're struggling with diseases that require restrictions on fat or heavy-duty foods, eating dumplings may not be the best idea -- for people with a sensitive diet, traditional deep-fried, deep-dried baked goods can be overwhelming -- then it's worth considering lighter alternatives, such as baked dumples.

14. You don't have a craving for candy

Not everyone has to be hungry for candy on a fat Thursday.. but if you prefer tasty flavors, there's nothing stopping you from skipping that tradition.. your preferences are more important than the pressures of the environment.

15. You're getting ready for a figure skating competition

People who train for a specific purpose, such as preparing for bodybuilding competitions, often stick to a strict diet plan. For them, giving up traditional doughnuts is not a renunciation, it's a conscious choice.

16. You're noticing the dubious quality of the doughnuts

Market pies are often of inferior quality compared to those sold in traditional confectioneries or bakeries. They often contain artificial flavours, thickeners, or the addition of hardened vegetable fats. It is worth considering whether it is worth reaching for them at all, or whether it can wait for an opportunity to try better quality pastries.
