Brazil nuts like other types are high in calories, but they have many health benefits. For this reason, they should be included in your daily diet, although their high calorie content makes it advisable to consume them in a reasonable amount.

1. Brazil nuts basic information

Brazil nuts are the seeds of high-quality nuts (Bertholletia excelsa). They come from the Amazon regions of North America mainly from Brazil, Bolivia and Peru. More precisely, they originate from Para. Brazilian nuts have high ecological and economic values, and most importantly nutritional (A. M. Kluczkovski et al. 2015).

2. The nutritional value of Brazil nuts

Brazil nuts are a good source of protein, containing an average of 1025 g of this ingredient per 100 g of product. In the context of other types of Brazil, they are high in unsaturated fats. They are very important in their diet. They support the proper functioning of the digestive system. Among all Brazilian nuts, they contain the highest content of selenium.

3. The health benefits of Brazil nuts

Brazil nuts are beneficial in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, which is the leading cause of death worldwide (M. S. Cholesterol 2019). However, Brazilian nuts have a rich source of increased pro-health properties. They are associated with high levels of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) and polyunsaturate fatty acid (PUFA). These acids have anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties, so they can reduce the risk for cardiovasculare diseases, which are the leading causes of death in the world. However, Brazil's nuts should be rich in sources of increased health benefits.

4. Summary

Brazil nuts are a product with high nutritional value. Studies show that they can be helpful in preventing many diseases. It is therefore worth including them in the menu, for example, as a snack or food additive.
