Antioxidants and their effects on human health

Antioxidants are a large group of beneficial compounds found in food and have a positive effect on the functioning of many systems in the human body, reducing the risk of cancer, and affecting the condition of the skin.

1. What are antioxidants?

Their main source is plant-derived products, such as fruits and vegetables. Antioxidants include primarily vitamins C, A and E. Other anti-oxidants, including carotenoids and flavonoids, may have adverse effects on human health. This may increase the risk of developing many cancers, metabolic diseases, neurodegenerative diseases and cardiovascular disorders. 2. Sources of antioxidants in food
